Moonstone Center
Traditional and Alternative Therapies Combined for Holistic Healing (Holistic:
Mind-Emotion-Body-Spirit-Relationship)

Overview
Moonstone Center's philosophy builds from a base of and roots in integrated Clinical
Psychological-Psychoanalytic and a Christian-Spiritual background, the psychological
theoretical and spiritual theological orientation of its founder, Dr. Elisabeth Crim, a
Licensed Psychologist with a Master's degree in Theology.  This base and these roots
have grown and branched to further integrate with the medical disciplines of psychiatry
and holistic medicine (Eastern and Western Medicine),  and with the principles of Yoga
as an approach to the whole  human being that allows for and honors all approaches to
spirituality and understanding of and communion with the Divine.   The clinical
psychological base integrates systems theories, cognitive-behavioral theories, and client-
centered theories with an intersubjective approach (Stolorow)  to psychoanalysis in its
approach to mental and emotional health functioning.   The integration of various
approaches to healing for the  various aspects of human beings (mind, body, emotion,
spirit, relationship) is occurring and is ongoing in Western Health Care  in general and at
Moonstone Center specifically.  Moonstone Center's Philosophy is that human beings
are integrally connected within and without and that to achieve true wellness and
wholeness that results in living fulfilled and with joy, peace, and love, then valuing and
treating the individual as a relational whole must be done.   Moonstone Center values the
knowledge and training of each of the separate disciplines that specialize in the different
aspects of being human, but believes each discipline must integrate, communicate and
team together in treatment to allow for balance and integration of the individual in order to
achieve true and complete healing and restoration as true wellness.    Wellness as
wholeness that may or may not exhibit with complete resolve of expressed symptoms,
but can result in balanced and fulfilled living with self, other and Divine Source.  And not
as a one time achievement, but as an ongoing practice in living well and whole, with
compassion toward self and other.

General Public
Moonstone Center understands and is committed to human beings who desire and seek
out health and restoration to wholeness.   Moonstone Center will meet with individuals,
couples, families, and groups, regardless of age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, cultural
background, education, religious background or spiritual understanding.

Healing Professionals
Moonstone Center also has a specialized focus and mission toward those who identify
themselves as providers of health care treatment.  Health care providers of all
disciplines and orientations often find themselves depleted, drained, out of balance, and
burned out.  They are often themselves in need of holistic care that restores and heals,
allows discovery and reconnection to Source, yielding balance and wholeness as human
beings, first.  We value the important role of Healers and equally value assisting those
Healers in remaining whole, vibrant, full of love, joy and peace, and capable of continued
healing.

Education & Research
In order to effectively and safely integrate we are committed to seeking out and
incorporating the latest research and developed approaches to holistic treatment that are
occurring in research and clinical settings today.   It is in the latter commitment that
Moonstone Center exists as a sacred space of study, research, learning, intervention,
and training for health care professionals and those we serve, the individuals, couples,
families, and groups who make up the larger context of our experience of being human,
alive and fully freely wholly functioning.

Philosophy Further explained

Mental Health & Health Care
Today, increasing numbers of us understand health in holistic terms.  Mental Health
Care professionals and as well as from other disciplines are increasingly valuing the role
of our physical being, our brain and endocrine system and other biological systems as
well as the pre-natal genetic make up from which we each continue to thrive in
understanding and treating our emotional and mental functioning.   More and more,
health care professionals understand that physical disease and its bodily representation
are linked to stress and psychological and emotional functioning.  Both fields of study,
formerly separated by some veil of limited influence of one on the other, are seeing their
link to the other.  Recognizing that the veil was just that, a sheer barrier that blocked
and/or skewed our vision of the other on either side, mental health and medical health
care professionals are increasingly removing the veil, approaching health with an eye on
the functioning of both mind and body.

Mental Health & Health Care & Spirituality/Religion
As traditional mental health and health care are more openly and actively interfacing with
one another, both are also increasingly valuing the role of spirit and relationship of the
individual in the context of a couple, family, and society as well as a higher power.
Spirituality has been evolving and emerging beyond the borders of religion for several
decades.  It has in fact always had a flow beyond those borders, though experienced
more in the shadows until more recently.   Spirituality is being increasingly understood by
mainstream medical and clinical circles as vital a facet of a person as the physical,
mental, and emotional aspects that make one human.  It is being valued in traditional
health and mental health care settings.  Integrative medicine and alternative medicine
are increasingly common terms in people’s health care regime or setting for services
received.  What has long been known and valued in many religious settings, some
Christian, some Hindu,  some Buddhist, Native American and others, that body, mind,
and spirit must be understood, valued, honored and treated together for true health to
occur, is now crossing over to the mainstream health care of America.   Spirituality
however is no longer bound to one person’s religious language or theological rules of
application.  The human spirit is emerging as an integral component in understanding
the human being within, without, and beyond the limits of one set of principles or
doctrine.  Whether people come by church, synagogue, Buddhist temple or more
recently, a yoga studio, The Secret, the Teachings of Abraham, Wayne Dyer, or Joel
Osteen, they are seeking God, a Higher Power, their Divine Self, their Spiritual Source.
This renewed and open valuing of spirituality is being embraced in increasing health care
circles via prayer and meditation.   Psychologists are incorporating meditation as a
valued treatment modality for depression & anxiety as well as heart disease and pain
management.  Yoga is emerging in some medical and mental health care settings as a
treatment standard of care.

Relationship with Others
Relationship with fellow humans in society, friendships, family, romantic partners, and
business associates or clients is also increasingly being valued as key to holistic health.
Whatever the title or frame – relationship also is critically linked to spiritual, physical,
emotional, and mental health functioning.    We are creatures that need health in each
area to have health in all areas of our functioning.   Relationships to self, other and God,
one’s Spiritual Source, are vital to whole health experience.

Moonstone Center
Moonstone Center recognizes this.  Moonstone Center is developed as a sacred space
to unite these approaches to health.  Our goal is to integrate various healing approaches
as we attempt to understand and attend to the human being as an integrated whole.
We value the body, the mind, the emotions, and the spirit, both human and divine, and
the relationships in which each of these aspects of our humanity function, express, and
flourish.

Those exploring Moonstone Center and all that it has to offer will discover trainings and
workshops and as developed, private group, couple, family and individual interventions,
for both the general public as well as trainings and workshops and as developed, private
interventions, for health care and mental health care providers specifically.

Moonstone Center is created and developing as a sacred space in which human beings
can seek and find healing and restoration, integration and balance that results in
wholeness and well-being.  Moonstone Center is a place of reflection, discovery, healing-
restoration-integration and Source.  As the Moon reflects the Sun, as each Moonstone
Gem reflects light from its very center, so Moonstone Center seeks to assist you in
allowing you to reflect You, your true essence, back to you from your very core, resulting
in discovery, healing-restoration and joyful connection with your Spiritual Source.
Moonstone Center values life and living it fully.
